About Me

My name is Jake Spegal and I am a 21 year old freelance videographer and photographer based out of Columbus, Ohio. I am currently a senior at Otterbein University where I major in Business Administration and Management with a minor in Sport Communications. Growing up an avid sports fan and participant, I always knew deep down that my playing career would come to an end someday. Due to this, I began working in sports media when I was 16 and quickly developed a passion for it. I got my start in the industry by covering high school basketball games and producing scouting reports and articles for 270hoops.com, a Columbus based high school basketball media outlet that I still work with to this day. When I was a senior in high school, I got my first camera and quickly fell in love with shooting sports video and photo. Since then, I have developed my skillset tremendously, working with pro athletes and high level organizations over the last couple of years. As of now, I continue to work with 270 Hoops, am contracted by SLAM Media Inc. to film events for them and do all types of different freelance work, most notably producing content for Malaki Branham of the San Antonio Spurs. Recently, I also began doing freelance videography for Courtside Films, a basketball media company that produces video content on a national level similar to what SLAM does. I also made my first TV appearance in January of 2022 when I appeared on NBC 4’s 4 Court Press with 270 Hoops and run the 270 Unscripted Podcast with Aaron Conrad, where we interview some of the top names across Ohio and the midwest. I truly love what I do and can’t wait to see what the future has in store for me.
